The share of 18- to 24-year-olds who report having used online dating has nearly tripled in the last two years.
Today 27% of these young adults report that they have done so, up from just 10% in early 2013.

However, most mobile dating app operators do not charge membership fees.
Instead, they rely on revenue from online advertising and from onselling information to marketing businesses.
This has made it difficult for established players to remain competitive.
These young adults are now more likely than any other age group to use mobile dating apps.But fake profiles abound, sexual predators use the sites, and some common online dating behavior—like meeting alone after scant acquaintance, sharing personal information, and using geolocation—puts users at risk.Dating companies are being pushed to better protect users, but some seem reluctant to do more— or even to talk about whether there’s a problem.As online dating services continue to gain popularity, and the concept of meeting someone online becomes less taboo, revenue for dating services is expected to grow.Overall, industry revenue is expected to grow by 3.9% over the five years through 2016-17, to reach 7.2 million.
Dating app Tinder was launched in September 2012 across a row of college campuses.
